Government-Fueled Persecution in Nigeria

With Nigeria recently removed from State Department’s CPC list, now is a crucial time for policymakers and human rights watchdogs to take action ensuring that persecution in Nigeria is not forgotten. While much of the dialogue on Nigeria focuses on militant-fueled persecution, government-led persecution is increasing as well.
This event will shed a light on some of the many ways the Nigerian government is furthering persecution, including through new laws cracking down on preaching, the use of criminal Sharia law in the north, and Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s harsh punishments of Christian communities who dare to protest the abysmal security situation in Kaduna state.
